Equipping the church for community transformation!
Last Updated on February 5, 2007What is Sierra Ministries really all about?
Community Transformation Strategy
At the center of our organization is the goal of seeing Community Transformation - locally, regionally, nationally. By transformation, we mean that God and his Kingdom are so firmly established in a city or region that the evidence of His presence is observable throughout. It is not enough to witness growth in the number of saved souls and in church attendance, as important as that is. Transformation is about change in how a society functions. Change in its institutions, policies, and procedures. Change in government, in regulations shaping society, in justice administered, in prosperity of families, in reconciliation of relationships between races, and many other areas. We work diligently toward this goal in Christian unity, humility, and honoring of others, emphasizing prayer and worship as keys to inviting God to move.
Prayer and Worship emphasis
Over the past ten years, we have focused on the need for increased prayer at the personal, congregational, and community levels. Our SMI Conferences like “Touching Heaven, Changing Earth” bring speakers and teachers developing and deepening our understandings. Prayer teaching and coordinating is expanding to intra-county, regional, and intra-state involvements. SMI seminars like “Power To Transform - Understanding Spiritual Authority” and “Prayer in the Making” are having widening opportunity and impact.
Healing Ministry
For many years we have sought bonafide, biblical, Christian healing. Today, we are seeing people receive partial and complete healing every week. Coupled with the Healing Rooms of Nevada County, our Healing Ministry Training Seminar has been privileged to equip over 500 people in Level One skills in the United States and abroad. Equipping believers for Healing Ministry is one facet of encompassing transformation strategy.
Men’s Ministry and Leadership Development
Seeing transformation in a community means seeing transformation in individual lives first. In combination with our local Men’s Fraternity Leadership Team, we are reaching men of our immediate community, both churched and unchurched. Our men’s retreat, Facing Life Head -On, concentrates themes of succeeding at work and at home. Leadership development starts in the home, extends to the workplace, and expands
into the community. It is strategic to reach men on account of their influence in these three areas.

Dan Prout is president of Sierra Ministries International, a non-denominational Christian organization incorporated in 1985. He and his wife, Kathleen, are founders of PRAY NEVADA COUNTY, a trans-denominational prayer group which has met weekly since 1997. Kathleen ministers strongly in intercession and inner-healing work. One of the founding organizers of the state-wide coalition Pray California, Dan also serves with North State Pastors Committee, a transdenominational fellowship promoting unity in the Body of Christ for transformation of communities. Dan convenes Arrowhead, a prayer strategy development team for Nevada County, and is Co-Director of the Healing Rooms of Nevada County. A Presbyterian minister and graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary, he is known for his practical, Biblical teaching and comfortable, inter-active style.
Dan is a “transformationist”. He is committed to developing and training the body of Christ in spiritual strategy to see the Good News of Jesus Christ transform the whole of society, to see God’s will done on earth as it is in heaven. Bringing people into greater prayer strength and personally intimacy with God is one facet of this encompassing strategy. Parents of four children who are now young adults, the Prouts live in Nevada City, northeast of Sacramento, California.
